What We Do With Your Donations
Gratitude is a non-profit organisation that provides essential items and services to people in need. We are grateful for the generosity of our donors, and we want to make sure that your donations are used in the most effective way possible.
Essential Items
Essential items such as food, cleaning products, and toiletries are processed by our volunteers and distributed during our Gratitude Groceries Giveaway. Through Gratitude Kid’s Corner, we also distribute baby food and equipment, kids’ shoes, toys, stationary, and school uniforms at the same time.
Non-Essential Items
We also receive non-essential items, such as adult clothing, bric-a-brac, small furniture etc. These items are presented in our windows during non-grocery times.
In order to cover the charity’s running costs, essential food and kids corner shortages, running events and other Gratitude initiatives, we ask the recipient of non-essential items to make a fair contribution towards Gratitude. The amount of the contribution is based on the item in question and is agreed verbally with the volunteer or trustee who is assisting the recipient of the non-essential items.
However, if the recipient presents themselves as in need due to their personal circumstances, we at Gratitude always consider this and will help support the recipient with the equipment they need.
We believe that this is a fair way to ensure that our non-essential items are distributed to those who need them most. It also helps to cover the costs of running our organisation so that we can continue to provide essential items and services to people in need.
Gratitude Baby Equipment Policy
Gratitude often receives baby and toddler equipment and is grateful for these donations. If someone needs essential baby equipment, they will be offered what they need and may be asked to make a small nominal contribution.
However, for high-end prams and strollers, where the cost to buy new is considerable, Gratitude may ask for a reasonable contribution towards its running costs, as explained above. These items are identified as high-end, and if a contribution amount cannot be agreed, the service user will be offered a pram or buggy from the essential baby equipment collection.
Essential Baby Equipment
Essential baby equipment includes items such as cots, prams and high chairs. This equipment is provided free of charge to those who need it or for a modest contribution. Car seats are not accepted by Gratitude.
High-End Prams and Strollers
High-end prams and strollers are more expensive than essential baby equipment. Gratitude may ask for a reasonable contribution towards its running costs. The amount of the contribution will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
If a Contribution Amount Cannot Be Agreed
If a contribution amount cannot be agreed for a high end product, the service user will be offered a pram or buggy from the essential baby equipment collection.
